PENCAK SILAT ____

The Aspects

Self-Defense

Self-defense is the art to defend ourselves using physical strength and strategy in the form of attack and defense techniques.

In pencak silat, the self-defense aspect can be seen in basic movements such as punches, kicks, elbows, stances, step patterns, pairs of gestures, etc.

Apart from that, the complex aspects of self-defense are also reflected in the series of different moves in each school/perguruan.

Art & Culture

Art and culture in pencak silat are reflected in clothing, weapons, and movements that come from a combination of dance arts with martial arts movements.

As a result, pencak silat becomes a martial art that is not only deadly but has very beautiful movements to watch.

Thanks to this, the pencak silat competition emerged which competed in artistic movements with the silat art categories of single, double, and team.

Sport

The sports aspect is important in pencak silat because of its nature which combines the exercise of the mind with the exercise of the body. In addition, this aspect is also very useful for maintaining health and fitness.

The sports aspect of pencak silat can be seen from the downward movement, warm-up, stretching, and self-defense movements which are quite draining.

The aim of the sports aspect in pencak silat is for fighters to have a strong physique with high competitiveness in facing the challenges of nature and life.

Mental-Spiritual

This aspect is related to the personality and noble character of a human being.

This mental-spiritual aspect is presented exclusively because it is included in the material of mind exercise (olah batin) or feeling exercise (olah rasa).

Spiritual mental education in pencak silat must be given from the beginning of the training period.

The aim of mental-spiritual education is to produce fighters who are patriotic, have noble character, and fear God Almighty.
